This notice is to inform you of a safety recall from Chrysler Motor Company. The recall is safety recall K36, also known as a rear axle fluid drain-back flow restrictor. This notice is also listed in accordance with the requirement of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Chrysler has determined that a defect exists in some 2011 model year Ram 1500 series trucks.
According to Chrysler, the problem is “the rear axle pinion bearing may not receive adequate lubrication under certain driving conditions. This lack of lubrication condition could cause the pinion bearing to seize and cause a loss of vehicle control and/or a crash without warning.”
Chrysler will repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). Your Dodge dealer will install a pinion bearing fluid drain-back flow restrictor and a new axle cover with a revised fluid fill level access hole.
Simply contact your local Portland Dodge dealer to schedule a service appointment to fix this problem. Ask your Dodge dealer to hold the parts for your vehicle or to order them before your appointment.
